They'll grow in the poorest soil, too. In fact, they bloom better if the soil isn't too fertile. Denver sounds like a great idea, now that the Democratic convention is over and you'll be able to get from point A to point B without too much trouble. The flower is a Cosmos. They bloom white, pink or purple. There's another kind of cosmos that grows and blooms smaller, in shades of yellow and orange that's fairly common in zeriscape gardens...
