Illumination

I love taking photos in the very late afternoon. I think it's interesting to see how cactus spines look when the last rays of the sun illuminate them. Here are a few I took last evening.

And, because this is Bloomin' Tuesday, here is cactus flower that opened yesterday. It loves rain, and seems to bloom every time we have summer rains.

Echinopsis x 'Los Angeles'

  5. The last cactus plant has such a beautiful bloom. I find the spines facinating. To think that I am thrilled when I get a bloom from a Christmas cactus.

  6. Aiyana, wonderful pictures of your cacti. The sun's angle does show them off better. Of course, my favorite is the 'Los Angeles'!

  7. I always love your photos, but that flower is stunning! How is it that cactus without flowers look so dangerous, but their blooms are always some of the most delicate and beautiful?
