The only cactus blooming right now in my collection is the Chamaelobivia 'Fire Chief', its third flush this summer. However, I have a couple of Barrel cacti that promise some spectacular flowers in the next few days. I think everything else is resting for their one last push in mid-September.
Anyone interested in the specifics of the C. 'Fire Chief' can read the rest of the story in one of my previous posts.
Oh, this is so beautiful!!! I decided to stay on the blog...I just revised mine! Keep up all this gorgeous photography and work with your plants!!
ReplyDeleteI never realised that Cacti had morw than one flush...I guess here in the UK we'd be lucky to get one. Beautiful photo and Happy GTS
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again and that one deserves it name as it looks like it is on fire.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark

ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower. The color is amazing. Happy GTS.
ReplyDeleteGreat flower.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting on an Orbea variegata to bloom to post for GTS. But it is taking a while for it to open up. Right now the only succulent I have blooms are two C. woodii plants.
What a fantastic shade of orange, and a well composed photo too. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a vibrant bloom! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeletevery nice!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, very very cool flower.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous flower! Thank you so much for sharing it on GTS :)
ReplyDeletePeanut cactus ... I like this name the best. I hear you about the frustration with proper names, varieties, how they change ... and we are writing blogs, as you say, and not scientific treatises. I have become lazy this past while producing all the correct names (well, ah, that's because I have misplaced the plant labels!).
