Chamaelobivia 'Fire Chief'

Chamaelobivia 'Fire Chief'

The only cactus blooming right now in my collection is the Chamaelobivia 'Fire Chief', its third flush this summer. However, I have a couple of Barrel cacti that promise some spectacular flowers in the next few days. I think everything else is resting for their one last push in mid-September.

Anyone interested in the specifics of the C. 'Fire Chief' can read the rest of the story in one of my previous posts.

  7. Great flower.

I've been waiting on an Orbea variegata to bloom to post for GTS. But it is taking a while for it to open up. Right now the only succulent I have blooms are two C. woodii plants.

  12. Peanut cactus ... I like this name the best. I hear you about the frustration with proper names, varieties, how they change ... and we are writing blogs, as you say, and not scientific treatises. I have become lazy this past while producing all the correct names (well, ah, that's because I have misplaced the plant labels!).
