A Jolt of Color

Since nothing is blooming in my garden this week, I drove to my sister's house today to get a jolt of garden color. She loves to grow flowers, and also has a brilliant green rye grass lawn, with a lake and the Estrella mountains as a backdrop. Of all the flowers she has, I was drawn to this common Gazania, because of its sunny colors. The photo has a painterly quality, all without assistance of Photoshop.

What a beautiful flower! It does look like a paint effect was added. The lighting on it is great also!

Wow you're lucky to have blooming gardens this tie of year! That really is a beautiful gazania. I love their cheerful colors although deer often eat the flowers ...

Such a common flower that we tend to overlook it a write it off, but your close-up reminds my how stunning some of the hybrids can be. Thanks. Gotta get it back in my palette.

What a summery color. If this don't chase the winter blues away. I don't know what will.

Aiyana, I too love the gazania. I've grown them from seed for the last couple of years. I did a post on them a few months ago. I think you'll get a kick out of the last part of it. LOL.
