I don't keep a regular vegetable garden, but I do grow at least one container tomato plant every year. I patiently feed and water it for several months just to get a few fresh tomatoes. The red one should be ready to pick tomorrow. This year's tomato plant is an Early Girl VFF Hybrid, with 16 tomatoes in various stages of growth. Now that the temperatures are getting consistently above 95 degrees, the 16 tomatoes I have will be all I'll get this year.
Maybe in the fall...I hope my Brown Turkey figs continue to grow and ripen so that by October I'll have some fresh figs. I pruned the fig back in late winter, just as instructed by the nursery, in order to promote fig production. The first year I decided to let it grow and got only a very few, very small figs. This year there are a lot of figs growing on the small tree, so maybe the pruning worked.
By fall, the pears from this Opuntia engelmannii should be ripe and ready to use for Prickly Pear Vinaigrette and maybe some Cactus Candy.

Pity your tomato season is so short but fresh figs.....mmmm, lucky you. It's so interesting reading about the exotic things you grow! Cactus candy? Sounds interesting and certainly more than the carrots I'm growing!
Tomato season hasn't started in our gardens yet. Yours are looking good.
I love fresh figs.......baked in the oven with honey.....and served with good quality vanilla ice cream. Yum.
My tomatoe plants are still very little and do not show any fruits. I guess I'll have my harvest around August :-) !! I didn't know that pruning figue trees or bushes would bring up more fruits. I had to prune my little plant because of frost damages...now I'm waiting for its growing!

Oh, your tomatoes look perfect, Aiyana...I just bought 2 plants at Lowes yesterday, a yellow variety called Lemon Boy, and a large red sandwich sized one called Park's Whopper! Tomorrow will plant them both in a large container!
We had two ripe tomatoes for our salad tonight. They were sweet and juicy and well worth the wait!
Your Opuntia engelmanii is certainly filled with pears ... glad the tomatoes tasted good. They look yummy.
