Desert Art: Cheap or Costly?

One would think that living in the desert and having desert landscaping would be enough, but no. I also have art that depicts our desert and its vegetation. Some of the art is expensive, but other pieces are thrift store bargains. If you are interested in checking your artistic eye or practicing your appraising skills, try to guess where these art pieces came from.

There are three choices. One came from a Goodwill store, priced at $4.95. I had a 20 percent off coupon, so its final price was $3.96.

Another painting is a yard sale find. I don't remember for sure, but I think I paid about $10.

Another one is a painting from a gallery and is by a locally renowned artist. It is an original and cost $500.

A.

B.

C.

Oh, how funny. I voted for the wrong one. This post is priceless and what fun.

I truly liked all of the paintings.~~dee

LOL, This is why I shouldn't invest in art. I chose the Goodwill painting:) Although the true work of art was my second choice...

All 3 are very pretty but the first is my favorite and was my (wrong) guess as the expensive one! Have a great weekend Aiyana!

3 leaves me flat.

2 has a nice composition, but the colors are just a tad to 'flash' for our Sonoran.

1, whether it be gallery hung or not, best resembles this landscape.

All three are nice examples, and for a few bucks at a resaler, that third one is a fine piece. If that's what it is.

I got the right one! My high school art teacher would be so proud! But the first is awfully nice too...

My daughter and I looked at them together, and she felt the expensive one was C. LOL...we like them all. Very nice peices!

I got all three---whoo-hoo! The original has the best composition, and realistic or not, I love the colors. Thanks for the fun.

I can't believe I got it right - dumb luck I guess. Thanks for the fun post and for visiting my blog too!

I voted for the right one. Since I'm always looking around thrift store "C" just looked like something I'd see there.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am so glad I guessed correctly on your art I.D. I also know what you mean about having pictures of something you can see right outside the window. People here in Tidewater can't get past a good seascape, duck decoy or beach kitsch, as if we have to be constantly reminded of where we are.

B - only a guess but it has the right feel of someone using their artistic license.
