Hot August Garden

The day began with blue skies. The lowest temperature the night before was 95º F. As the day progressed the temperatures rose to 108º F.

By afternoon, the clouds had rolled in, bringing with them a doubling of the relative humidity, but not a drop of rain.

Late afternoon, not breeze in sight--the kinetic wind sculpture was completely immobile, a very rare occurrence. This usually signals that a storm will be coming. The proverbial calm before then storm!

By sunset, the clouds parted a bit to let the last rays of the sun splash across my garden. Still no rain. Then around midnight, we received .07 inches of rain in five minutes. That was it! Just another typical August day in my garden.

I enjoyed seeing the "overall" photos of your garden very much, Aiayana. It is absolutely beautiful!

Your desert oasis is beautiful Aiyana. I love the vibrant colors in the first photo and the dry stream bed in the 2nd photo, but your water feature is really fantastic! I hope you get some rain soon. Great Bloomin Tuesday post this week!

Well, I've been thinking we've had enough rain here in Manitoba, but I guess I should be thankful for my green jungle!
It may be hot and dry, but your garden is still very pretty!

I'll send some of my rain your way. Home from work today due to tropical storm here in TX. No blooms for me this week, but I did capture some beautiful dragonfly shots in the garden. Come see.

I love seeing the views of your garden! It is really beautiful and the colors look so different without our completely green backdrop. Thanks! Jean

I just love your peaceful garden views- rain or not they are lovely! I do appreciate the extra cool and rain here in the summmer- but we pay a bit for it come winter, when you'll stay just a little warmer than me!

Wow.... it's great to see an overall view of your desert-scape. I like that cactus are mixed with other plants, since that's how they grow naturally, so many desert gardens end up with nothing but cactus and rocks. Yours looks so much more natural.

Loved 'seeing' your garden. We rarely get the whole picture, but yours is lovely. So much more green than I had imagined. I guess your summers are to be put up with-considering your wonderful winters. If we all lived in moderate year round climes-how boring!

I was hanging on each word to see if the wished-for rain would fall. I'm glad you had at least a little. Alas, Eduardo has disappointed us and passed us by.

I always enjoy your garden pics. What a beautiful space you've created.

Everything looks so neat and tidy in your rock gardens! Do weeds grow up through the rocks, or no? Grass is pretty...but I love rocks! Beautiful garden!!!

I love the kinetic wind sculpture. I saw some fanciful ones on YouTube. I have a spot in my garden where I could have a large one. Bird feeders are there now but I have my eye out for a kinetic wind sculpture.
