Leaf Sculpture

The alternate bipinnately compound leaves of the Red Bird of Paradise shrub (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) are blue-green and feathery. Many desert shrubs and trees have bipinnate leaves.

That is a really beautiful picture, I like the architechtural detail in it. You have a very nice blog too. :)

Great pic... a few years ago I got really into leaves, into the contrasting texture of plants and such... I figured since I was growing mostly perrenials, leaves were what I was looking at 80% of the time, so I might as well allow for them... I eventually went back to flowers, but I do still consideder the foilage.

These are so cool! I planted two very small ones about a month ago, and they have just taken off beautifully! Do you now how big they need to be before they bloom?

With this showy plant, it's easy to only notice the flowers, but the leaves are beautiful too.

I was too busy photographing the the overall effect of the plant and the flowers, on our recent visit to Phoenix, to notice how beautiful the individual leaves were. Thanks for showing me.
