Two pretties, One Ugly

Rosa 'Red Intrepid'

With temperatures down, my roses have put out some blooms this past week. Although this one doesn't live up to its name of Red Intrepid, (it looks like hot pink to me) it is pretty nevertheless.

'Red Intrepid' is a hybrid tea with a moderate sweet fragrance and grows to a medium size. I don't know much more about this cultivar.

Rosa 'Queen Elizabeth'

I love the color and spicy scent of this old favorite. Queen Elizabeth is a grandiflora and has been one of the most popular rose varieties for over 40 years. I probably planted this in the wrong place as it can get up to 10 feet tall! It is in a narrow bed alongside a sidewalk, so it may outgrow its alloted space in a few years.
Huernia primulina

The flesh colored, stinky flowers of the H. primulina are not as attractive as some of the more exotic flowers of other Huernia species. As a matter of fact, this photo should not be enlarged because when the flower is examined at close range, it looks suspiciously like a nasal orifice, complete with nose hair! On that note, I'll finish this post!

I love the H. primulina. I enjoy diffrent types of flowers. I had a voodoo Lillie in St Louis. And was able to get something like it again this year. Thanks for sharing it. The roses are great too.

Pretty roses, that is one ugly looking plant at the bottom though, I did not enlarge, looking up nasal passages is not on my to do list today. I'll take your word for it.

Your roses are gorgeous! I have never figured out how roses can grow so wonderfully in Arizona.

Poor little cactus :)

I love that stapeliad...neat bloom...very unusual...and so fleshy looking, with that pale, beige blah-ness...yet very alluring!

Love the roses -- they really are natural beauties! The huernia primulina is sort of an ugly duckling at best. Yikes that girl needs a makeover!

There is something very appealing about the "ugly" one!
It has character.

I like that ugly flower.

But then, I like the big fake vulture in my yard, so don't junge by me...

There doesn't exist any ugly plant for me. Your primulina is just a bit "special" ;-) !! My Queen Elizabeth roses are still blooming too. They are in my garden for over 25 years now. It's a very easy to care and faithfull flower !
