Shades of Green

Although these plants are not as close together as they appear in this photo, I thought the various shades of green, as well as the contrasting textures, made this an interesting photo.

A lizard is sunning itself on the boulder. It kind of blends in with the rock. I didn't even notice it when I snapped the photo.

Rosa 'Gold Glow'

This is my latest hybrid tea rose, planted in late September. It currently has seven open roses and four buds. I expected the color to be a deeper gold-yellow, but since all my other roses have various shades and hues depending on conditions, I suppose this one will be the same.

Since this rose was still blooming, I didn't prune it. All my others are thinned and pruned, and tiny leaf buds have already begun on the pruned canes. By mid-March I should have more roses to show.

That is a great photo with all the shades fo green... and an interesting trick of perspective to move things closer together. I can barely see the little lizard there... And a beautiful yellow rose too...

Oh my gosh...I LOVE your sidebar poem, "out Of The Vast"....it nearly made me shed a tear it is so beautiful to me! I can definately see heaven in plants! I love the pic you took showing all the shades of green! Awesome! You are meticulously caring for your roses, just like all of your plants and trees! That was always one problem I always had with roses....not wanting to prune because they flower year round, and there never seemed a good time to do it because ! I wonder if you could do it just selectively on the canes that do not have blooms on them??? LOL...I am such a baby! :)

It is an interesting photograph, and the Sun appears quite sharp. What kind of temperatures are you running?
I too must have missed Mr. Lizard, were it not for your mentioning it; it is appearing more like an unnatural spiny extension of the boulder.

Both pictures are stunning. I love the little lizard on the rock. I've got a waiting to be rescued aloe like yours that has been neglected and needs planting- should I wait till it is warmer out? It has been in a black plastic pot for months, maybe years I don't know.

There are TWO little lizards- one is just peeking his head up on the left side of the photo, visible when you enlarge it- wonderful shot!!

Beautiful rose, the lizard looks very happy on the rock sunning itself.

Very lovely photos. I love the rose...I sure miss mine. But won't see them until late May around here. We've had some horrid temps here in Illinois this winter!

Love your shades of green photo. The great variety in nature is amazing - great shadows, too - and I didn't notice the lizard either.

Aiyana, the greens are very interesting as well as the textures. Also love the different shapes. Take your eyes up, down and around. I love the yellow rose. A color I don't have anymore. :{ My 'Midas Touch' dies after several wonderful years. If 'Gold Glow is anything like my yellow, you will have non-stop, goreous blooms.

How cool, I'm glad I enlarged the pic. Is that plant growing out of the rock or just an optical illusion?

Thanks for all the comments.

Green Thumb, the temperatures the past five days have been in the mit-to-high 70s. Lovely! I have a weather gadget on the home page. You can see what the temp is at any time.
MrBrownThumb,
I assure you it's an optical illusion. I shot this as a close up and it pulls everything forward. The Agave is actually growing about a foot from the boulder.

I like not only the contrast of shades but also of shapes. Beautiful.

Gorgeous yellow rose. Would you identify the agave please?

Lancashire Rose,
It's an Agave desmettiana. You can put this into the search box at the top left side of my home page and see info about it in several other posts.

We still have to dream (and wait) for a long time until our roses will show their flowers again. It's so good to visit (virtually) all the places that already show some Spring harbingers. We still have "real" winter!
Have a good time!

That's a nice color. I am still waiting for Spring to come. Right now it's still freezing cold and the only plant in my garden doing well is the Rosemary.
