What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That's not been said a thousand times?
The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.
We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.
We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.
We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our prides, we sheet our dead.
We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that's the burden of a year.

happy new year Aiyana
What a beautiful rose! The poem is so true...what a lovely thing to find and post this day, the first of Jan, 2009!
Happy New Year, Aiyana! Thank you for visiting my blog--I still have to post a Garden Muse poem today. I've been so busy with the holidays that I haven't been here in awhile, and I've meant to. I was in Phoenix the early part of December and enjoyed another trip to the Desert Botanical Gardens. I'm still organizing all my photos, but I hope to post about the DBG this weekend. I hope you'll have time to come back for a visit then and correct any misinformation I might have:) I'm enjoying learning about the native plants of Arizona, but obviously I have much to learn.
My daughter moved from an urban area in Phoenix to Scottsdale, where green lawns were much more common. The bougainvillea were absolutely gorgeous when I was there this time. I can see why so many "snowbirds" spend the winter there--I would, too, if I could.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you Aiyana! See you on Tuesday! Jean
So full and such a lovely color - bet she smells wonderful!
Happy New Year to you and yours!
Happy New Year a great poem to start it off.
Happy 2009 Aiyana. It has been sure a pleasure to see all your flowers and cacti in 2008.
Happy New Year Aiyana! Both the rose and the poem are beautiful. The poem is one that I have never heard. As I read the words I reflected upon the truth in them.

Hey Aiyana! Happy New Year back at ya! :) Thank you for writing your informative blog! Thanks for spending time on mine, too! :) Good luck on your plants, photos and writing in 2009!
Aiyana, what your roses don't do in the summer, they make up up for in the winter!
Happy New Year to you.
What a beautiful rose. Happy New Year. Hope all is well with you. I hope to get out in my garden more this year.
Kind regards

Thank you for all the good wishes which I'd like to return to you too. May 2009 be a year full of joy, health and happiness! I always like to come to your blog and read about the exotic plants you have, most of them would never grow where I live. One of the exceptions are roses ;-) !!
Greetings from a very frosty and again snow covered wintergarden,
Barbara
