Sunday Stuff

So far, my Santa Rita Prickly Pear has retained its winter purple. I love the way the purple pad made for a colorful backdrop for the flower bud.

Rosa 'Tiffany'

This evening this rose opened, and its color was especially beautiful in the waning light. Once the sun is up, it will begin to wither as it is just too hot for the roses to last. However, all my rose bushes continue to have buds, hot or not.

A young Anna's Hummingbird found a resting place on a pot ring right outside my breakfast area window today. I took this photo through the window.

The fruit on my new dwarf Meyer Lemon tree is still hanging on. I have 28 lemons growing right now. I'm hoping at least a few will last until ripe. It's odd that blossoms are still appearing even in May. Not normal in my opinion.

The hummer is sitting perfectly for your picture .. how did you get him to pose so nicely ? wink wink .. I love the little lemon shrub/tree ? It would be such a treat to have one here too : )

Nice photo of the hummingbird. I think those lemons are sure things now they are that size. Mine are about the same size too and flowers also. I think ups and downs of weather cause the odd blooming. I wish my Santa rita looked so nice. Mine always looks mangy.

My santa rita has started to fade... but it hasn't started to do anything else... We'll see what happens.

A wonderful rose bloom, and the hummingbird is cute as all git out.

Don't know nothing about Lemon trees, but as long as it's blooming, I'd say let it be. They have a great scent...

WOW..that is strange for citrus to have blooms coming on in May! I think one year after our hurricanes, our Navel Orange tree did that. Something happens and it upsets their schedules! Oh well...28 lemons sounds like a happy number!!! Good luck with them! Your Santa Rita is so beautiful!!!! OMG...I want one!

Lovely photo set, as always.

That's a great capture of the hummer. They do lift the heart, don't they. Precious little monsters.

I love to see Santa Rita Prickly Pear with Chuparosa blooming in front, or alongside. There are some on the 101 heading east at about Thomas surprisingly and they always look so good in the winter months. I am trying hard to emulate the affect in my own garden but without success so far.
