A Sunny Christmas

Old Man of the Andes (Oreocereus celsianus)

Every year at Christmas time
There's not a sign of snow.
Instead we spend our yuletide days
In the sun's warm cheery glow.
We have the best of Christmas things,
The lights, the gifts, the bells,
(And "snowbirds" who arrive en masse
To fill our resort hotels.)
The glorious weather fits right in
With our happy Christmas mood,
And we can also walk and run
Without having to be snowshoed.
So don't feel bad for your desert friends
Who have no snow or ice.
We think our sunny Christmas here
Is a holiday paradise!

Happy sunny Christmas, Aiyana! We are really enjoying it here as well. Yesterday was about 70 degrees and slightly windy...making it so pleasant, and hence me being able to get those lovely blooming shots yesterday!

Merry Christmas dear Aiyana! The poem is lovely and could very well have been referring to the place I live. It is not a desert, not yet, but with the changing geography, it might soon be one!

Love the poem, that's the spirit!

That old man wearing the santa hat cracked me up.

Merry Christmas to you and yours Aiyana and if you want to look at some snow pics you'll find them at Bliss.

Loved your little poem. This year we get to enjoy Christmas in the wonderful Arizona sun. Can we call ourselves snowbirds coming from Texas! It did snow in Texas this Christmas and we certainly came through snow on the way here. Tonight we go to see the luminaries at the DBG. Can't wait. Happy holidays.

Happy Holidays! We got snow this year... we never have snow on Christmas, usually we have to wait till January for it. After having to drive on the frozen roads, I envy you your winters...
