Better Without

Most cactus flowers are beautiful in my estimation, but some, well, not so much. Such is the case with Mammillaria karwinskiana ssp. nejapensis. The small, straw colored flowers seem to take away from whatever attractiveness this cactus has going for it. I don't think it's too bad without the flowers, but this Mammillaria species wouldn't win any cactus beauty contests anyway. (See a previous post for a photo.) Just my opinion. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, even with cacti.

I see what you mean Aiyana. I feel that way about most hosta .. the foliage is the main attraction for me.

But at least it tries to add beauty to the world, brave little soul! :)

I'm with you on this one Aiyana, but I have to say that most of the flowers you show are absolute crackers and you do the world of cacti a big favour.

Cheers Mark

This one, with all of it's thorns, and uneven blooms, pales in comparison to your last post of the fragile, sweet, endearing rose!

Aiyana,

Thanks for the visit and the comment. With regard to the beauty question, let me paraphrase Nikos Kazantzakis--"I said to the cactus, sister, speak to me of God. And the cactus blossomed."
