Gymnocalycium baldianum
Right on schedule, my G. baldianum, or Dwarf Chin Cactus, bloomed today. I'm thrilled with this year's color, which is an orangey salmon. The flower color can vary from year to year. The flowers can have a pink, peach, or salmon hue, and this year's color is a change from last season's pink. This ability is one of the reasons this cactus is among my favorites.
Over the past 12 months, I've written about this cactus three times. I've included the post links in case anyone wants to know more about this great cactus, which once suffered a near death experience. The posts also include photos of last year's pink hued flowers.

Some plants just call to us don't they! Funny story and you are probably right about the extra blooms. It loves you. The flowers are shades different than last year. How interesting.
Your pictures are beautiful, I love those colors.
BTW, you have starting influence me. Since a cat fell in a cactus, I'm a bit scared of them, but you inspired me to buy a sedum for the container in the south garden, with many little yellow flowers. That's my Water when dry effort :-)
OK- this is my favorite color now! Love this one!
This color is by far the BEST of all the previous bloom colors you posted! These flowers just look surreal!
Wow what a great plant. I love the back story.

I didn't know there were chameleon cacti too! ;-) How delightful to have one and never know what colour its blooms will be the next time.
