Fearless

Rosa 'Red Intrepid'

The roses on this hybrid tea have lasted over six weeks now and they are just now starting to brown a bit on the margins of the petals. I am thrilled with this, and it is such a surprise after the two or three day roses of summer and early fall. Late fall is supposed to be the best time of year for roses in the low desert, and I'm finding this to be true. This rose in this photo bloomed five days ago, and is still perfect. Intrepid means fearless, courageous and bold, and I think this hybrid lives up to its name.

Since this rose has done so well, I've looked for more bushes and no nursery has them. I checked back with the nursery where I bought this bush and they said it came in a mixed shipment purchased for a special sale, so this rose could not be ordered. It will be a matter of chance for me to find another. None of the other nurseries I visited have ever heard of it, and there is very little information on the web. The tag was generic and listed only the name.

Too bad you can't find more of this rose! It is a little gem.
And yes, although I don't have any GTS thing to post on my own, I do visit your blog. It is always such a pleasure.

It's a beautiful rose, I can understand why you want another. I know how frustrating it is to look for a particular plant, and not be able to find it because it wasn't on the nurseries list of 'hot' plants that year. Still, one may turn up somewhere. Roses grow from cuttings pretty well, have you considered taking some? The first rose cutting I tried was when I pruned a bush, and I said, "what the heck, I got some here, let's see if I can do it," Actually worked out pretty well, but I don't live at that house anymore, I don't know if the bushes are still there...

Lovely rose how nice to have this in your garden . I will keep my eye out for this one. I am a real Green Thumb blogger not a fake and I do understand what you are saying.

What a gorgeous rose!! You might want to try the rose forum on Garden Web. Someone on there always knows the answer to rose questions!

Here's more info on the rose, but alas, there is no place listed to buy this rose! I love this website and use it all the time.

I see that one of it's parent roses is Karl Herbst, also known as Red Peace. I have had that one (the same bush) since I've started to grow roses in 2001. It's a real trooper! I can see why yours is so good.

Have a great holiday!

Hi Aiyana. :) I actually looked all over the web and I didn't have any luck with that particular rose variety. It must be pretty rare I guess. It certainly is a beautiful color and I'm glad it is doing so food for you. I have been posting to GTS as often as I am able which ends up being most weekends. As a matter of fact I just updated mine a few minutes ago. ;) And I wanted to say thank you to you also for visiting my blog, it was you that started me with GTS to begin with!

Hi, I've never done the Green Thumb Sunday thing because it requires a certain amount of discipline, and I need all of that to get the weekly laundry done on Sunday. I do, however, love to see the flower pictures like your Intrepid rose. Now that so many of our Canadian (and US) blogging friends are buried beneath snow, living, thriving gardens are especially welcome to see.

Hi Aiyana- it is a beautiful rose! I'll have to keep an eye out for it in Tucson. I have had the same experience with GTS. I am afraid to wander around on the list because some of the websites do scary things to my computer.

Hi Aiyana - It was a gift just for you to find! And it is most beautiful.

I agree on the GTS list. I wish the one who maintains it would go through it and get rid of the bad ones on there. It is discouraging.

Hope you have a great holiday and enjoy the warm sun for me!

Thanks for visiting.
I plan to grow roses for the first time next year. Yours are lovely.
I know what you mean about the list of bloggers that seem to disappear off the face of the earth. It's like that at Blotanical also. I guess they're not serious about gardening or haven't found blogging rewarding.
Best Wishes,
Patsi

Hi Aiyana, I love your beautiful rose, and the name certainly fits. Have you done some Google searches to gather any info? I'm sorry I haven't participated as much in GTS. I'll try to do better. It's a wonderful way to celebrate Sunday. Of course, nothing is even trying to grow here now.

Merry Christmas.~~Dee

Roses are only a distant memory around here now. It's nice to see a bloom even it's only an image on the web.

Sorry you got to my place before I got my GTS post up. I had 'winter blues' to take care of before I had a chance to post.

I'm ready to pull the plug on GTS. I hate doing so but it's been abused and neglected. It's too bad, GTS has given me the excuse to take time and visit others. But as you say it's often pointless and now dangerous to visit sites on the list.

I love your rose and isn't it rather special to have a hard to find specimen? I have one or two blooms on my Felicia but others are taking a winter break.
Merry Christmas-Jenny

That is a beautiful rose Aiyana! I can understand why you would like to find another bush like this. The length of the bloom-time is great. Good luck in your search! Have a very Happy New Year! Jan

'Red Intrepid' is right! What a beauty. It's good to see your roses blooming! You are so fortunate to live where you do ... we are having a winter blizzard tonight.
