Gymno Time

Gymnocalycium mesopotamicum
The medium-sized white flowers came early this year.
Gymnocalycium baldianum
One of my oldest specimens and the most reliable bloomer.

Gymnocalycium saglionis
Long, tough spines prevent the flowers from fully opening.

                                                   Gymnocalycium sp.
New acquisition--love the color so much I posted it again.

Pretty, pretty pretty!! I used to live in Arizona and these blossoms bring back fond memories of the desert.

My Green Thumb is posted, won't you join me? Hope your weekend is great so far.

gymnos have such great blooms...but that dark pink one is fantastic, and I really like the spination. Even without the bloom, a great plant...

I would be tempted tp remove the spines from the 'saglionis' to see the blooms opened. But maybe that would harm the cactus. I love the red!

oh lovely display - I particularly like the pale pink one - it's gorgeous. I just posted a mystery succulent - wonder if you could possibly help identify it? Happy GTS

These are gorgeous. What a treat to visit gardens w-a-y beyond one's growing zone and discover new plants.

Whenever there is more than one flower to look at, I feel compelled to pick a favourite -- it's really hard because they are all stunning but I think I'd have to choose the pink one (second from the top).

Happy GTS to you.

I'm pretty well clueless when it come to cactus but always find them beautiful blooms.
I heard after a rain that the desert is quite the showplace.
Any how are they cactus they grow for food?

My GTS is up.

I thought the cactus would be done blooming by now? Are there many that bloom all summer long?

These are all very pretty.

The cactus blooms are all beautiful. I like both the red and the pink the best.

These are spectacular, Aiyana! That first delicate white bloom reminds me of a chrysanthemum - so elegant.

That Gymnocalycium saglionis is just plain evil...not allowing it's own petals to open! Evil, I say!

BTW...I haven't NOT noticed your pretty little orange pic is back! Just haven't gotten around to say I noticed, and that it is such a neat little pic the way it is sort of like a film negative!
